Sugal & Damani UK Limited (SDUK) is licensed by the Gambling Commission of UK to function as an External Lottery Manager and intends to run lotteries on behalf of charitable societies in UK to help them raise funds for special projects and general development. SDUK would own the responsibility of operating lotteries while societies can continue to focus on their charitable activities.
In 2007, SDUK, in consortium with Financial Technologies http://www.ftindia.com/), Gopsons Papers Limited (http://www.gopsons.com/) and Deutsche Bank (http://www.db.com/), bid for the UK National Lottery. SDUK was one of the final 2 short listed bidders for the UK National Lottery and while announcing the successful bidders, the Commission concluded that SDUK met all the requisite standards set out in the ITA.
SDUK was judged to be capable, among other things, of providing the modern flexible technology to run the UK National Lottery and to ensure high standards of propriety and player protection. The commission also chose SDUK as the reserved bidder, who could operate the national lottery if for any reason the terms of the license could not be finalized with the successful bidder.
